This is a complex issue and the information on this site should be treated as an overview only. We have shown an example of a normal , a case of Pulmonary Embolism and a case of Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease (COAD). Reporting of lung scans may be straightforward where a normal set of lung images are obtained or there are several clear-cut unmatched segmental defects in both lungs. Difficulties arise with how to interpret the other scans. We have outlined the PIOPED scheme which may be used as a guide to aid the reporting process. However the PIOPED scheme has not been determined or evaluated using Kr81m ventilation images. |
